13 things I learned while participating in Febooary

If you read this blog, you know that I’ve been participating in the Audioboo Febooary challenge, where we post a boo every day during February. I link my Audioboo account to my blog, so that people who read here can listen. The post below this is an example of a boo, Audioboo embeds them here, but they’re also on the site itself. I’ve been wanting to get back into doing Thursday 13 for a while, and so if I can come up with 13 things, here’s a list of things I’ve learned while doing Febooary.

  1. I learned how to keep it short, (well… under 3 minutes, anyway.) I think I hit the 3 minute limit twice while recording the very first boo.
  2. It never fails, earbuds will fall out during recording!
  3. No matter how many takes I do, it will never be perfect. I might be able to eliminate that belching sound in the middle, or the spitting on the phone with multiple takes, but it will never be perfect.
  4. Anything you can do to reduce interference from the phone is not only wanted, it’s a necessity, (thus, the earbuds.)
  5. By all means, do not hit the phone, (please!)
  6. if you absolutely have to navigate, and you aren’t wearing earbuds, do it as fast as you can, (so that we don’t have to listen to every step you take. If you’re wearing earbuds, put the phone as far from your face as possible, (in your lap if you can,) so that what you’re hearing won’t be recorded.
  7. Earbuds make a lot of extra noise, therefore, I try to sit as still as possible. If I’m sitting in the wrong position though, that’s hard.
  8. I usually hold the phone right to my face while I’m recording, it’s important to try not to move it.
  9. Recording after 10:30 at night will always warrant multiple takes.
  10. Sometimes I just have to say, “you get what you get,” and publish the thing.
  11. I do better if I have a question to answer.
  12. If I don’t like the question, I do better if I make a list of 3-4 things to talk about, that way I have a plan.
  13. I’d sound a whole lot better if I could use the Audioboo site to record. As of the beginning of February though, I can’t give it the permissions it needs. I don’t like the way I sound when I use the app, but that’s what I’m stuck with.

On the last day of Febooary…

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Short thoughts on IE 10, take 4.

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Answering both sets of questions for today, take 4.

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Today at healing rooms.

We prayed for 6 people at the healing rooms today. The lady who’s on the same side as me regarding Terraforming, (and she’s also a co-director,) ended up calling the director’s wife to talk about Terraforming. She said she called to request a meeting with them, but the director’s wife just said to tell her since she was already talking on the phone. Wehn the lady said that her and her husband don’t agree with Terraforming, she told me she heard the director, (the husband of the person she was talking to,) say something in the background, apparently he said something like, “that probably came from what Noelle said.” He was of course referring to this blog post I wrote on Terraforming. She said that it wasn’t because of me, and that her husband has done 5 seminars on the new age movement, and sees a lot of that in terraforming. Another strange thing was the fact that I didn’t send the blog post to them. I thought about it, but I knew they either wouldn’t read it, or would seek to try and disprove everything in it, so I didn’t. I’m friends with some people in the healing rooms on Facebook though, people who have an interest in seeing terraforming incorporated there, and I’m thinking that it was probably one of them. That’s fine, but I wish we would have been able to discuss everything last week.

Answering the question for today.

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

The late night, earlier than last night boo.

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

I think I need to fix my sleep schedule.

Yeah, I also need to start posting on a more consistent basis again. I was up for 4 nights last week following international legal hearings, that went from late in the night pacific time to early in the morning. I was getting about 4-5 hours of sleep a night, which is now my sleep schedule. This is why it needs to be fixed. I learned that staying up all night is surprisingly easy even if you don’t plan for it at all, and doing this for multiple days makes days and nights run together. This was only the bail hearing in the case, and a trial is still to come. I enjoy following these things as they happen, via twitter in this case, (and live audio stream, when it was provided.) Yeah, I could probably catch up on them later, (although it most likely wouldn’t be that easy, because it’s hard to look back on Twitter,) but there’s just something about following it right then and there. Of course I did this with the wikileaks extradition hearings too, so it isn’t a new thing for me, (different case, different country, different legal system though.)

Short boo.

(function() { var po = document.createElement(“script”); po.type = “text/javascript”; po.async = true; po.src = “//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();
