Computer fan hilarity.

A friend of mine had PC fan failure recently. She described it as “a loud grinding sound.” Usually, when fans fail, they sound more like jet engines about to take off. OK OK, they sound like they’re about to explode and I suppose you could describe that as somewhat of a grinding sound. Usually, it’s the excessive and extremely loud werring sound we describe as “like a plane taking off.” Or somewhat like this:
Lol that sounds like the space shuttle taking off!

I’m also testing TypePad.

Well, let’s just say I’m in the process of importing posts from my WP export file to TypePad, because it decided it didn’t want to import and is now going extremely slow! TypePad seems like it would work well, (and I’m pretty sure they have an existing bookmarklet. Actually I know they do, because I just installed it. I think the imports are going to take all night on this one though for some reason. I’ve never had a blogging platform take this long to import my content. I tried the whole import thing, but it didn’t want to take my import file either, it uploaded it, but never actually finished importing it.

Testing Blogger.

I imported the contents of my linkblog into a Blogger blog today, just to see how things would work. It actually went fairly well, once I found out that Blogger doesn’t take WP export files, and you have to convert them to Blogger ones. There’s actually a service that does this! You can probably ignore the fact that it says it won’t take files bigger than 1 MB, since it took my 8 MB linkblog file, (um… who knew text/HTML was that big!)
Blogger took all 1845 posts in the file, then said I had 1846 posts somehow, (lol!) Unlike my imports from Tumblr to and then to self-hosted WP, my posts are all dated correctly, (of course I can’t say the same for the posts that were previously imported from Tumblr.) The only issue I’m having so far is well… um… one of the main reasons I’m switching away from WP is Press This doesn’t support tags without having to click around. It appears Blog This doesn’t exist at all, and what does exist, (a bookmarklet from another site that connects you to blog this,) doesn’t support tags. I think I’m going to have to fix this by using the manual form to post links, and bookmarking it. I’m just testing this for now to see how things work. I’m not going to switch anything over until I think things are working well.

I did it!

I got the Thursday Lister blog up and running last night! It’s right here. Yeah, I’m using Blogger for this. IN IE, Blogger works perfectly! I haven’t used Blogger in 3 years, and the last time I left there were issues, so I’m glad everything’s working now. Anyway, I have an extremely bad headache, and would like to go to bed, so I’ll talk more about this tomorrow.

Thursday lister: April list updates.

Yeah, I’m actually remembering to do Thursday Lister, and list updates! I didn’t intentionally wait, (but when I realized I hadn’t done them yet, I decided to do them today. I managed to start one goal this month, (and start planning for another one.)

  • 25. Start at least 2 more blogs.
  • OK OK so a slight change to this one. Somehow I thought I could manage to run 6 blogs, plus the podcast I’m going to be starting, (lol!) As for the starting of the blogs, one involves starting a blog for this here Thursday lister thingy, (maybe I’ll actually keep up with it better, (hah!) Lol it just occurred to me that I probably don’t need WP for this, hmm, maybe I’ll get this up and running soon! The other blog I’m planning to start? It involves what I’m doing right now… Lol as in sitting here blogging.

  • 58.Do a 30 day journaling challenge each year of the 3 years.
I started this one at the beginning of this month, so far, I haven’t skipped an entry!

To everyone stil following me on Tumblr…

I guess it took me 2 whole years to realize maintaining 2 IFTTT accounts is… well… ridiculous! I keep an account for here, and one for my linkblog, (because IFTTT won’t allow you to have multiple blogs per Tumblr channel.) I’ll be stopping both IFTTT recipes a week from today. As I explained it in this post, “I’m killing my bridge to the dying Yahoo embacy that is Tumblr.” This means that you’ll need to subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed if you want to continue seeing my posts. As I said on my linkblog, I’ll probably implement an RSS to email service like, just in case I have anyone following who can’t stand RSS for some reason.

I’ve been busy today!

Yes, yes I have! Someone recommended Emails to RSS to me a while ago, (last September, in fact,) and I just started using it today. The service was over quota when I first looked at it, it’s using Google app engine, (which is a free service, although of course it gives you higher limits if you pay,) and I didn’t want something that I would have to forward everything to by hand. Well, I just realized I could probably do everything a bit differently than intended, and not forward everything by hand. In other words, I could do a lot of email address changing, and sometimes unsubscribing and resubscribing. In places that I noticed newsletters had RSS feeds, I subscribed to those. When I say “a lot,” I really mean it! I don’t know how many subscriptions I had, (I didn’t count,) but all I know is that it’s possible I reached the quota.
On a completely unrelated note, the nurse called me this morning. She had a really bad connection because she was driving, however I was able to understand the fact that she’ll be coming out on Friday to start injection training.

Deligation is happening.

There should be a nurse coming out here hopefully sometime soon to go ahead with the injection training. This means that I’ll be starting growth hormone injections soon, (probably either this week or next, depending on how long the referral from the state takes.) When my doctor put me on them, she said “they work for some people.” She said it was because my growth hormone level was undetectable or very low. Well, I haven’t taken the stuff in 20 years, so that makes sense.
The manufacturer of the medication tried to find someone to come out and train us, but they couldn’t find anyone in my area. Deligation is a procedure done by the state when a caregiver is involved.

I had 2 drivers today.

The first one was in a play here at a local theater, so another driver brought me home. I asked him what play he was in, and he told me it was “A Few Good Men.” He started describing it too me and I was like I’d probably enjoy seeing that one.
When I got home, a friend of mine was having email issues. It’s been a very long time since I’ve worked with an email client, (about 6 years!) However, I quickly began to realize that the problem wasn’t her client, it was the ISP, (she couldn’t send from the web either,) and it came back up around 4:45 this afternoon.

We did the birthday party thing today.

It was actually a great day for a birthday party! Not too cold, and not too hot. Those are the days I like! I’m not a big fan of days over about 80, and obviously you wouldn’t want to have a birthday party outside when it’s cold and rainy. I probably didn’t get there until around 1, because my dad had to pick up the pizzas at 12:15. I had a phone conversation with him about this whole thing. I called him to ask him a if I needed to bring water, and the conversation went like this. Dad: “I’ll be there in a half hour.” It’s after 12 when I’m talking to him, (like 12:05. Me: “The thing starts at 12:30, we’ll be late.” Him: “Well, I have to pick up the pizzas at 12:15, and mom said it doesn’t matter if we’re a little late to this.”
Lol, the thing is, mom isn’t the biggest fan of being on time. My sister is way, way worse than her, (I’m sure she learned it from my mother, though.) Lateness is my pet peve though, and I don’t like to be late to anything!
