Thoughts from last night.
Last night was President Trump’s first State of the Union address. I used to have a habit of watching them in the past, but stopped around 2011 or so. I really didn’t enjoy former President Obama’s speaking style.
I thought I wouldn’t enjoy President Trump’s delivery style either. He usually does a lot of wandering all over the place. However, last night was different. He delivered a well-written speech very eloquently. Not only that, but some of the stories he shared made me cry. It was probably the longest address I’ve ever seen, about an hour and a half. It was also the best one I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen quite a few going back to Clinton.
I didn’t agree with all the policy he put forward in the speech. I’m definitely not an amnesty kind of person, even though I consider myself more libertarian than conservative. Of course there were some policies in there that most conservatives wouldn’t agree with that I did. He talked about prison/criminal justice reform, and I do agree that changes need to be made in those areas.
