Still reading…

Oh yeah, I’m still reading Atlas Shrugged! Lol I have no idea when I’m going to finish that thing. I stayed up until 1 this morning reading, I thought for sure I’d finish it, but didn’t. I pretty much read all day today, I thought I’d finish then, but I still haven’t! Unfortunately, Ane Rand held atheist worldviews, it’s hinted throughout the book, but I’m at the section where it’s extremely prevalent. Let’s just say I’m not a very big fan of this section, and I want to get through it ASAP!
I really have no idea what I’m going to read next. All I know is I won’t be picking such a long book for Readathon next time. 3-4 short-ish books should be fine. I mean 300-400 pages at the most, no more 1188 page books.

Latenight dancing!

Lol! Someone tweeted a link to a YouTube video on the Readathon account.

Hah, that’s just what I needed for almost 1 AM! Latenight dancing is much fun! Oh yes, yes it is. I think I might make the coffee now, because it sounds really good. I want to finish it before the event ends.

Eating, drinking, reading, and blogging!

Lots and lots of reading! I was just laughing about the fact that I’ve probably been reading around 15 hours or so! I’ve probably taken 3 hours worth of breaks. Lol if I can laugh about that, I’m starting to reach the fun state of things hah. My pizza finally got here almost an hour after it was ordered. Yeah, it was about 20 minutes late. I enjoyed it while reading. I’ve also enjoyed a couple sodas. Hah I really wanted the second one and I thought since I’m going to be reading for 24 hours, there shouldn’t be anyone to stop me.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The summer road trip challenge

She’s asking the question, where would you want to go on a Summer road trip? Well I’m going to Vegas with my parents. I think I’d like to get back to SF at some point. There are lots of places I’d like to go, but I’m not a huge fan of car rides. I’d also like to go back to NYC but getting there in a car is a no way for me.

Late mid-event survey!

Lol, I’m such a late person. Hah, I blame reading for like 10 hours straight now. Ok, here it goes.

  1. What are you reading right now? I’m on chapter 9 of Atlas Shrugged.
  2. How many books have you read so far? Lol just 1. I finished 1984 earlier. I’m glad I didn’t set a goal to read 3-4 books. I didn’t set a page goal either because I have no way of counting the pages I’ve read.
  3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I’m looking forward to picking up right where I left off. If I finish before 24 hours are up, I don’t know what I’m going to do.
  4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? I live alone, I’ve had 0 interuptions, except of course when I interrupted myself to take breaks etc.
  5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I think what surprises me is that reading for more than 3-4 hours makes me tired. I didn’t expect to have to deal with tiredness until later tonight.

Stair climbing is fun!

Oh yeah, yeah it is. I just did this for a while to take a bit of an exercise break from reading. As much as it’s fun, I go up the stairs pretty fast so it’s fairly difficult. I’ve also done yoga stretches, and push ups. I’ll probably do more of those later.

Hour 7 or 8, if you count the starting hour.

I’m about 2 hours into Atlas shrugged already. Tiredness has started to take effect over here, I think it’s from all the reading. Maybe eating lunch will do me good. I’m going to participate in the mini challenge hosted by Classic Books, Modern Wisdom.
The question is to write down the books that empower you. Well, the Bible first and foremost. I’m one of those people that believes you should read the Bible daily. Secondly, (and most recently,) Sensable Shoes, because spiritual discipline is a good thing, and I learned several things while reading it. The next one is a book I read when I was a teenager. I Touch the Future: The Story of Christa McAuliffe. Unfortunately, if I wanted to reread that, I couldn’t. There isn’t a Kindle edition available. perhaps one day, I’ll get a Bookshare renewal, and see if I can find it there.

Wow I finished!

Lol yeah, after about 6 hours, I finished 1984! I can’t decide if I should finish reading the apppendix or not, but maybe I will later at some point. Right now I’m going to take probably about a half hour break to post on Facebook, Twitter etc, and do some stretching. After that, I’ll get back to reading and start Atlas Shrugged.
I’m not sure when/if I’ll be able to write a review of 1984. It’s one of those things that you really have to read for yourself to understand.

Status update thingy.

I’m about 2 hours into 1984. Wow is that a deep read! I’ve already had breakfast, (did that while reading,) lol I can’t wait to get back to it, so I’m going to make this one short. I’ll review the book after I finish it, well I’ve never done a book review but I’ll publish short thoughts anyway. I have no idea what page I’m on, but expect to be finished with it sometime this afternoon.

Pre-flight survey! Oh and a song.

Lol because it’s still pre-flight, but this is technically the opening survey, it’s a pre-flight one hah! After this I’ll put my opening song here.

  1. What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Oregon, United States. Lol I think most people know Oregon is in the US, but for those who don’t.
  2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I’m only reading 2 books this time, (as it’s my first time, and I want to see if I can get through one or both of them.) I’m looking forward to 1984 and Atlas Shrugged equally. Yeah Atlas Shrugged is 1188 pages!
  3. Which snack are you most looking forward to? Probably my Hershey’s hugs! Love those things, I also have Starburst, and lots of chips/crackers.
  4. Tell us a little something about yourself! Hmm, well come to think of it, I don’t have an About page set up here. I’m 33, Christian, totally blind, and I don’t use my legal name online, (except in places where it’s required.)
  5. If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? Lol getting lots of reading done of course! Oh and staying up for 24 hours and getting loopy hah. Also Twitter and such wshould be lots of fun! Lol so the whole thing…

Oh, here’s the song, ((I almost forgot!) Since I’m starting with 1984, it’s the Citizenfour soundtrack.

R is for reading and RSS.

So I’m catching up with the A to Z blogging challenge, and yeah I’m pretty far behind. I’ll do this post tonight and then decide if I want to continue catching up or just forget the whole thing.
“R” is for reading. I’ve been doing a lot more reading lately! So far this year, I’ve gotten through 2 books, (lol I know that isn’t a lot,) but I’ve had many years where I didn’t read at all. I’m looking forward to getting through 1 and possibly coming close to finishing a second one Saturday! I’m doing a challenge on Goodreads in which I try to read 10 books this year. I figure I should at least get to 10 if I really try.
“R” is also for Readathon, in which I’ll be participating Saturday! This is my first one and yeah, I intend to try to go for the full 24 hours! I just hope I don’t fall asleep while reading!
“R” is also for RSS! Oh, I really love RSS! There’s nothing like sitting down with a cup of coffee or tea, and my feed reader in the morning. When I do this, I usually tend to get lost in the internet. If you aren’t using RSS yet Wikipedia will explain it for you. Most people like or The Old Reader, but I prefer Simple RSS Reader, myself!
