All finished!

Yep, I finished The Case for Faith and i’m a couple hours ahead of schedule. I’ll probably be able to make it to church Tomorrow morning, (yay!) Lol I was up at like 3 this morning so even though I’m already done I’ve almost been up for 24 hours. Yay for me, I guess.

Woopsies!

Well I forgot to publish my last update before I got back to reading. I’ve successfully finished barefoot which was an extremely intense and sad read. I’m going to take a bit of a break for dinner, and then I’ll start The Case for Faith, right on schedule!

Time for lunch!

Well yay, I finished my fifirst book. I’ve decided to take a bit of a break to have lunch, and then start the next one. Not that I can’t read and eat at the same time, but I don’t particularly want to be distracted from reading. I’m going to start barefoot next! I need to figure out how long it is so that when I get finished, I can enter it into the Million pages database.

Quick status update and a hilarious song.

So I’m on page 136 of The Case for a Creator, apparently almost 40% through, from what my Kindle app tells me. This means I have exactly 226 pages to go, and I’m thinking that it should take about another 3-4 hours to finish. I should most likely be done by lunch time, as long as I keep up the current pace. Someone posted a song on the Readathon blog, and it was hilarious so I just have to post it!

Readathon pre-event survey.

So today’s the day for Readathon, which means I’ll be reading for 24 hours! Or until the 3 books I got yesterday are finished. OK, here’s the pre-event survey, and I almost forgot about the whole thing and now I’m running behind, go me!

  1. What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Oregon, USA.
  2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I have to say that I’m looking forward to all 3 equally this time, but I’ll be reading barefoot, which is the last book in the sensible shoes series and I’m really looking forward to that one, simply because I’ll be done after this one.
  3. Which snack are you most looking forward to? Lol I have so much candy in this apartment, it’s ridiculous! I intend to spend the 24 hours doing my best to get loopy with sugar hah.
  4. Tell us a little something about yourself! Hmm… like what? I don’t think there’s anything on the blog that I haven’t already shared. I guess a bit about how I’ll be reading, I’ll be letting the Kindle for Pc do the reading for me.
  5. If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking
forward to? This is my third, and I intend to go the full 24 hours this time.

I’ll be reading The Case for a Creator, The Case for Faith, and Barefoot in between. I intend to get back here several times throughout the day, but I’m going to be concentrating on reading so I can get through the nearly 1000 pages.

K is for Kindle.

First of all I’m having 7 teeth extracted tomorrow, (thank God for Nitrous!) I’m not sure when I’m going to feel like being up and around again, I have a feeling it’s going to take 2-3 days.
K is for Kindle. In my case, it’s the Kindle for PC app that just downloaded an update today. I use this to read books, I’m going to be participating in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon, later this month. I’ll use the Kindle for PC to read the books that I buy off of Amazon.
even when I’m not participating in Readathon, I usually try to get at least one book a month. I’m still reading the NKJV Bible, it’s taking me a while but I’m now in Luke.

Mid event survey.

OK so this is actually my closing event survey.

  1. What are you reading right now? Just finished Skating on Air.
  2. How many books have you read so far? Lol only 2.
  3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I’m looking forward to sleep, I’ve had a headache all day, and making it to church tomorrow morning!
  4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Interruptions came via the cat in my life right now. I did take time to read on my couch with him and pet him so he wouldn’t be a total distraction, but he was still demanding.
  5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? Time flies when you’re having fun! OK OK not necessarily that, but time does go fast when you set aside a day for reading.

Opening event survey.

OK OK so I couldn’t do this early because I had a cat meowing at me at 4:30 something, which woke me up so I could start reading. After a quick email and Twitter check, I started, so now I’m taking time to do the survey.

  1. What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Oregon, United States.
  2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Is it weird to say I’m looking forward to them both equally? I’m reading The Case For Christ, which I’ve already started and has proven to be very interesting, and Skating On Air, about the broadcast history of figure skating.
  3. Which snack are you most looking forward to? Well I ended up getting lots of granola and Larabars yesterday when I was at the store. Probably looking forward to those the most.
  4. Tell us a little something about yourself! I’ve been a Christian since I was about 9 or 10, but never used to attend church as a kid. I only started in 2007 when I moved out of my parent’s house.
  5. If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking
forward to? Well I’m not going to read the entire 24 hours today, because I have plans to get to church tomorrow. Other than that, not doing anything different, except reading different books of course.

My Bible reading journey.

I think the delemma of everyone who likes to read one time or another is, “what should I read next?” Lol I know a friend of mine who asks this question quite often. Well, I was asking myself that same question, and I found the answer today!
I started reading the bible. That’s my next book. Lol I know, right? You’re probably thinking that I should use an app to do that. Well I’ve never done that, but I’ve done the daily email thing. Unfortunately that no longer works, so I decided to get 2 different translations of the Bible and read them simultaneously. I downloaded the NIV from Bookshare, and the NKJV from the Kindle store. I intend to read anywhere from 10-15 chapters per day, as I want to get done quickly.

Still reading…

Oh yeah, I’m still reading Atlas Shrugged! Lol I have no idea when I’m going to finish that thing. I stayed up until 1 this morning reading, I thought for sure I’d finish it, but didn’t. I pretty much read all day today, I thought I’d finish then, but I still haven’t! Unfortunately, Ane Rand held atheist worldviews, it’s hinted throughout the book, but I’m at the section where it’s extremely prevalent. Let’s just say I’m not a very big fan of this section, and I want to get through it ASAP!
I really have no idea what I’m going to read next. All I know is I won’t be picking such a long book for Readathon next time. 3-4 short-ish books should be fine. I mean 300-400 pages at the most, no more 1188 page books.
